Murara Plants Kenya, part of HilverdaFlorist, is a leading young plant propagator in Africa, specialising in the cultivation of a wide range of cut flowers, pot plants and garden plants. In close collaboration with HilverdaFlorist B.V., Murara Plants manages the sales and distribution of HilverdaFlorist’s full assortment across Africa.
Murara Plants is located in Kericho, Kenya, approximately 270 km from Nairobi. Situated in the highlands west of the Great Rift Valley at an altitude of around 2,100 metres, the site benefits from an ideal climate. Bordering the Mau Forest, the region offers year-round daytime temperatures of 20–26°C, night-time temperatures of 10–12°C, a consistent 12-hour photoperiod and annual rainfall of 1,800 to 2,000 mm – perfect conditions for producing high-quality cuttings.

Murara Plants Kenya focuses on the delivery of ornamental starting material, including Alstroemeria, Dianthus, Gerbera, Gypsophila, Helleborus, Limonium, and Salvia for the cultivation of cut flowers, pot plants, garden plants, and bedding plants. Due to the increasing demand for planting material for cut flowers in Africa, HilverdaFlorist has expanded its operations and established a propagation division in Kenya.

Murara Plants produces an average of 22 million cuttings per year across a total production area of 14 hectares. The facility is divided into two main sections:
The Main Farm (7 Ha): Dedicated to Dianthus, Gypsophila, and Salvia mother plants. This site also includes specialized rooting areas for both Tissue Culture (TC) and rooted cuttings.
The Alstroemeria Farm (7 Ha): Focused on the propagation and cultivation of rhizomes, as well as FCN, P5 and P9 plants.
The site is equipped with three large water reservoirs with a total capacity of 30,000 m³. Thanks to this infrastructure, collected rainwater can be used for both irrigation and domestic purposes.

Murara Plants Limited is certified under the Kenya Flower Council Silver Standard and benchmarked to GLOBALG.A.P. IFA v6 Smart. This certification ensures that we adhere to the KFC Silver Code of Practice for the responsible and safe production of cut flowers while protecting the environment and community interests.
Our commitment to excellence is further recognized through our official DOSH certification for workplace health and safetyand our AEA membership with the Agricultural Employers Association. We maintain full compliance with Kenyan legal regulations through our Horticultural Exporter License 2025 and Data Controller certification.
