Update on catalogue releases

Starting this year, the HilverdaFlorist Cut Flower catalogue will be published every other year. This development aligns with HilverdaFlorist’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. The HilverdaFlorist team is always available to assist with any questions or provide additional information. In between the launch of the new Cut Flower catalogue in 2026, HilverdaFlorist will inform those interested of the novelties and changes in the assortment through an intermediate issue in 2025. For Gerbera, HilverdaFlorist will continue publishing the yearly catalogue.

During FlowerTrials® HilverdaFlorist presented the Pot, Patio & Garden assortment for 2025 – 2026. Besides promising novelties in Echinacea® MOOODZ, Garden Gerbera Garvinea® and various Dianthus series, HilverdaFlorist also revealed retail concepts.

New for retail

HilverdaFlorist launched three new retail concepts for existing ranges within the assortment. These concepts are designed to add value for retail and consumers, and tell the story behind these unique products. Garden Gerbera Garvinea®, Salvia Salgoon® and Patio Alstroemeria Inticancha® can be uniquely positioned in the market as a result.

Earlier this year, HilverdaFlorist launched a concept website, consumer-focused, for Garvinea®. Here, gardeners will learn all about the colours and flower shapes within the range, find gardening tips and inspiration.

In addition to the three existing series that have been restyled, HilverdaFlorist introduced new genetics in Dianthus. A unique retail concept has been designed for this indoor and outdoor product, which was shown for the first time during FlowerTrials®. This new variety, which has shown promising results in both internal and external trials, is ready to conquer the market. 1 JULY 2024, DE KWAKEL, THE NETHERLANDS –  In March of this year, HilverdaFlorist announced that they will renew and strengthen their cooperation with Aris-Green Leaf Plants for the exclusive production and distribution of all potted Dianthus (both URC and RC) in North America, starting February 1, 2025.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone for HilverdaFlorist as it transitions the production and sales of its renowned potted Dianthus series to Aris-Green Leaf Plants. Known for their reliability and high-quality production, Aris-Green Leaf Plants has been a trusted partner for the Dianthus Flow® series and will now extend their expertise to the entire potted Dianthus range.

Aris-Green Leaf Plants, based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, will offer both unrooted and rooted liners of the following four series through all the North American broker networks from their Pennsylvania facility. Availability can now be requested at Aris-Green Leaf Plants.

• Sunflor® offers an extensive range of early, mid and late season flowering varieties. The collection features compact varieties in many showy colors, various flower shapes and plant types. Its outstanding cold tolerance enables cool production temperatures. Sunflor® has a short cultivation time and a tight bloom window, for easy planning and bench-run production.
• Beauties® is the top-selling Dianthus series in the USA, including the beloved Kahori, with superior performance from north to south. These tough perennials are easy to grow under low temperatures, indoors or even outdoors. The Beauties® varieties are quick to finish and programmable for year-round sales.
• Odessa® offers taller Dianthus varieties, which are rich flowering and produce many promising buds. You can easily grow the series year round in larger pots. This hardy perennial Dianthus thrives in the garden and has a well-branching growing habit.
• Flow® represents a league of its own. With premium, large double flowers and fashionable colors Flow® attracts immediate attention in every shop display. The series consists of easy-to-grow, uniform varieties that are great for production under higher temperatures. Where some Dianthus varieties may take a short break from blooming when temperatures heat up, Flow® can easily handle summer conditions.

5 JUNE 2024, DE KWAKEL, THE NETHERLANDS – Packed with surprising novelties, improved genetics and new retail concepts, the Pot, Patio & Garden catalogue 2025 – 2026 of HilverdaFlorist is now available. As breeder and supplier, HilverdaFlorist is at the beginning of the supply chain. To serve the market in the best way possible, the company strives to develop varieties that are relevant, distinctive and add value to the entire market.

For Pot, Patio & Garden, HilverdaFlorist offers an assortment in Alstroemeria, Dianthus, Echinacea, Gerbera (indoor and garden), Helleborus and Salvia. All coming in their own brand series. From this year on, the HilverdaFlorist assortment will be presented in a combined catalogue covering both 2025 and 2026. Every other year, an intermediate issue will be published to share novelties and exits in the assortment. This development is in line with HilverdaFlorist\s innovative and sustainable view of the future.

New retail concepts

Remarkable this year in the catalogue, are four new branding concepts developed for retail. The already established garden Gerbera Garvinea® Series, Alstroemeria Inticancha® Series and Salvia Salgoon® Series got a new look and feel, to be seen in the designs of pots and labels, among others.

Besides these existing series, there is also a completely new product, with a stand-alone concept being introduced. 2 MAY 2024, DE KWAKEL, THE NETHERLANDS – Since mid-April, the new Alstroemeria White Swan has been flowering for the first time at Dutch growers, and is now available at Royal FloraHolland. White Swan, with bright white flowers, is a promising flower with heavy quality a very good vase life. The flower was developed and marketed through collaboration between HilverdaFlorist and H.M. Tesselaar (Horti Partners) and in production this year at H.M. Tesselaar, Hoogenhoom Alstroemeria and Siem Knol Alstroemeria.

High-promising variety

White Swan is ready to conquer the market with its fresh, bright white coloured flowers. These come from a high number of buds per branch and have a vase life of over 2 weeks. With its heavy quality and very high production, White Swan is a real asset to the market.

Florists and retailers can go either way with White Swan. From bridal arrangements to Mother’s Day, or just as home deco – this white flower blends into any type of bouquet. The flowers, which open on the vase, are elegant and impressive.

White Swan stands out!

Of course, the first supply of White Swan cannot go unnoticed. So you will see White Swan feathers and other promotional materials passing here and there at Royal FloraHolland. In the coming months, this variety will be widely available through H.M. Tesselaar and Siem Knol Alstroemeria, from week 30 also at Hoogenboom Alstroemeria. Alstroemeria and sustainability

Growing Alstroemeria is one of the most sustainable cultivations in the Netherlands. Alstroemeria can be grown relatively cold and therefore requires comparatively less energy. Breeding also focuses on optimising varieties for cold(er) cultivation, extending production cycles and extending vase life.

Scabiosa Virtuoso® Saura, developed by breeding company HilverdaFlorist, is now available at grower Marginpar. After signing an exclusive licensing agreement for the production in Africa in July last year, the first flowers will soon be harvested from Marginpar’s fields in Kenya. From this moment on, the colourful masterpiece Saura will be available to florists year-round.

Marginpar is constantly looking for exceptional flowers to make a difference. By collaborating with various breeders, the company offers the most complete range possible for florists. After careful selection, Saura, bred by HilverdaFlorist is one of the latest additions to the range.

Propagation and production of young planting material for this variety is done by Murara Plants Kenya, subsidiary of HilverdaFlorist. Murara Plants is a leading specialist in the African market for cut flowers as well as potted and garden plants. “We are extremely proud and grateful for this partnership and look forward to making it flourish even more in the future,” says Eric Bouman, Managing Director Murara Plants Kenya.

About Scabiosa Virtuoso^®

Saura is part of the recently rebranded Virtuoso® Series. “Each flower is a living masterpiece, named after a famous artist.” This variety is a long-lasting, fascinating flower that adds exactly the desired depth and texture you’re looking for. They gradually open until they reach their full size. Its name is in honour of Antonio Saura, a Spanish painter. Fittingly, he was known for his colourful work, full of texture, and often abstract.

13 MARCH 2024, DE KWAKEL, THE NETHERLANDS – After years of close cooperation for the production of unrooted cuttings for the HilverdaFlorist Dianthus pot series, HilverdaFlorist and Dümmen Orange are ending their licensing agreement. This collaboration has been a main driver in the production and sales of unrooted cuttings for potted Dianthus, including the Sunflor®, Beauties®, Olivia, Odessa® and Kahori Series, for the North American market.

Due to strategic considerations, both companies have decided to discontinue the exclusive licensing agreement, effective February 1st, 2025. HilverdaFlorist and Dümmen Orange will ensure the availability of the mentioned series until the specified date.

“Starting February 1st, 2025, the complete potted Dianthus range will be exclusively available at Aris-Green Leaf Plants, marking the commencement of our new licensing agreement for the North American market”, says Sjaak Sijm, Commercial Team Lead HilverdaFlorist. Aris-Green Leaf Plants (Lancaster, Pennsylvania) is already a trusted source with HilverdaFlorist for the production of the Dianthus Flow® series. Aris-Green Leaf Plants will be offering both unrooted and rooted liners through all the North American broker networks from their Pennsylvania facility.
